A New Look for Kate Reid

It's a new year, so why not start it off with a brand new look and a fresh take on the first books in my Kate Reid series. And that's exactly what I did!

I've been toying around with the idea of making over books one and two for a while. They were, after all, when I first introduced you to Kate Reid. Can you believe that was almost three years ago? I can't. I was eh-hem, young (okay--younger) and just being introduced to the world of indie publishing. I worked a full-time job, was raising my two young children and decided I wanted to give my dream a chance.

And I haven't looked back since. Now, writing is my full-time job and just last year, I created my own publishing imprint, HARP House Publishing. I have eight books under my belt, and a super-secret non-fiction book about a great American company (maybe not that secret) which will be published by Barricade Books later this year. So, it's been full steam ahead for me.

That was why I thought now was the right time to take another look at my old friend, Kate Reid. I've learned a lot since she first came into my life and she deserved a fresh perspective. So, over this busy holiday season, when I probably should have been spending time with my family, I instead re-examined books one and two in the series (formerly, Redwood Violet and All the Shiny Things) and hacked my way through it. Sometimes with the precision of a surgeon's blade and sometimes with a hatchet! What I was left with was a taut thriller that while still very familiar, is more succinct and polished. And with the help of my fantastic cover artist, (thanks Laura) we gave Kate a brand new cover that stays true to the crime thriller genre in which the series falls.

So, without further ado, today, I am revealing the revised and newly republished (under HARP House, of course) ALL THE SHINY THINGS. For those of you who are new to the series, welcome! To those who have been loyal readers, leaving such wonderful comments about your love of the series, thank you for sticking with me! I am currently working on a new crime series that is as of yet untitled, but don't fret. Kate Reid will be back by the summer of 2016!!
